This statistical progress report illustrates the work of academic transfer offices and their benefit to our communities through innovative technologies, products and resulting startup companies. Highlights from the 2012 U.S. Licensing Activity SurveyTM include:
œ591 new commercial products launched
œ705 startup companies formed (+5.1 percent), 554 of which had their primary place of business in the licensing institution’s home state (+13.8 percent)
œ4,002 startups still operating as of the end of FY2012 (+1.9 percent)
œ5,130 licenses executed (+4.7 percent)
œ23,741 disclosures received (+8.6 percent)
