The AUTM U.S. Licensing Activity Survey FY2013 Data Appendix provides institution-specific licensing information on the 202 institutions who responded to the AUTM 2013 licensing survey. The Data Appendix includes information such as how many full-time licensing staff each office employs, the number of startups reported, the number of U.S. patents issued, licensing income reported, and much more.

This statistical progress report illustrates the work of academic transfer offices and their benefit to our communities through innovative technologies, products and resulting startup companies. Highlights from the 2013 U.S. Licensing Activity Survey include: 719 new commercial products launched; 818 startup companies formed (+16 percent); 611 of which had their primary place of business in the licensing institution's home state (+10.3 percent); 4,206 startups still operating as of the end of FY2013 (+5.1 percent); 5,198 licenses executed (+1.9 percent); and 5,714 issued U.S. patents (+11%). The respondents included 170 universities, 30 hospitals and research institutes, one national laboratory, and one third-party technology investment firm.
